For a good sized piece of period oak furniture with loads of storage at a fraction of the price of a dresser base, coffers, chest and mule chests (featuring drawers as well as a lift up lid) are well worth considering.
As an example here is a good sized late Georgian oak mule chest c.1800. Solid oak throughout with panelled front, sides and back and a good flat top. Two useful drawers below. The original candle box is retained inside the chest. Excellent colour and condition.
Dimensions: width 52", depth 22", height 38".
£625.

Yew Wood Windsor Chair c.1800.
For colour, quality and condition this is a Windsor chair which ticks all the boxes. The yew wood arms, backrest and splat are an attractive and collectible detail which raises this chair above the run of the mill. Add to that the curved 'crinolin' stretcher the unusual shaped arm support and the spectacular colour and patina and you have something pretty special to end the week on. I'll stop drooling now. More great stuff next week.
