Six Spindle Back Chairs. Restored.

A few more images of the matched set of 6 mid 19th.c. spindle back, rush seated dining chairs originally posted last week. Now restored and repolished. A couple of slight differences in detail but well matched for colour and height.

Early 19th.c. Mahogany Side Table. c.1820.

This early 19th.c. mahogany three drawer side table is repolished and out on the floor this morning. Good original colour and finish on the front and sides, unusual handles.

Pair Victorian Mahogany Bedside Pedestals.

Several good new bits emerging from the workshops this morning. First to make the blog is this useful pair of mid Victorian mahogany bedside pedestal chests of drawers. Good flame mahogany veneers to the tops and drawer fronts.

French Marble Top Chest of Drawers.

New for today; an early 20th.c. French marble top chest of seven drawers. Inlaid mahogany veneers, ormolu handles and mounts, oak drawer linings. Excellent condition having been restored and repolished in our workshops.

Knowle Settee.

Hot off the van this afternoon is this attractively upholstered Knowle sofa by Wesley-Barrell. Approx 10 years old in excellent condition with very clean upholstery.

18th.c. Oak Gate Leg Table.

Polished and waxed and out on the shop floor this morning is this mid 18th.c. oak gate leg table c.1770. Excellent colour and grain, with a single oak lined drawer.
Dimensions: 48" x 60" x 30" high.

Set of Six Mid 19th.c. Spindle Back Dining Chairs.

This good set of six mid 19th.c. rush seated ash and oak spindle back dining chairs are a new arrival at the shop this morning. In generally good colour and condition, a couple are in need of a little restoration and I shall post again when they come out of the workshop.

Riley Convertible Snooker Dining Table.

New in today is this unusual mahogany snooker diner by the celebrated British manufacturer Riley. A half size playing which table converts into an 8 seater dining table. Repolished and reconditioned it is in fine condition. Sold together with a Riley scoreboard, stick stand, cues and balls.

Still the best known name in Snooker tables, Riley began in the 1890's as a Manchester sports shop before becoming the country's largest manufacturer of cricket bats. They began producing billiard and snooker tables in the very early years of the 20th.c and by 1920 were established as the leaders in a rapidly expanding market. One of the keys to the company's success was their convertible tables which used their own patent mechanism to allow the table to easy lift from a dining table to a correct playing height. The Riley mechanism also has the additional advantage of allowing precise adjustments to be made to each corner ensuring a level surface. Removable leaves covered the baize to make a good eight seater dining table.

Victorian Brass and Iron Double Bed.

Purchased locally this morning and just in is this excellent Victorian brass and iron double bed. 5' wide, with base and irons provided and in excellent condition.

Regency Sideboard c.1820.

This wonderful Regency serving sideboard c.1820 is new on the shop floor today. With original handles, flame mahogany veneers and unusual turned and reeded legs. Excellent colour and condition having been restored and repolished in our workshops.

Mahogany Roll Top Desk c.1900.

New for today is this unusual mahogany roll top desk c.1900. With a good interior fitted with 12 drawers, pigeon holes and pen slides above drawer pedestals. chamfered panelled sides and back, working tambour in good condition, original lock and key supplied.

Late 18th.c. Oak Mule Chest.

The highlight of this morning's new arrivals is this unusually complete late 18th.c. oak mule chest c.1790. With a superb shaped frieze below the drawers and original feet which retain their length and molding - usually lost on furniture of this period. Oak sides, shaped at the base, original brass and original back and floor boards.

Oak Dining Chairs.

A couple of interesting new bits of stock for this morning's blog. First up is this useful collection of 10 early 19th.c. Welsh oak cottage dining chairs. Some variation in colour an construction but all of similar age and proportions.

Red Leather Sofa and Armchairs.

These three large button back leather armchairs and matching two seater sofa in oxblood red are new in the shop this afternoon. Made in England by Tetrad, genuine leather with feather cushions, straight legs and stretchers in mahogany. Excellent colour and condition.

Late 19th.c. Walnut Hall Wardrobe. c.1890.

This late 19th.c. red walnut hall wardrobe is a new arrival here at the shop this afternoon. An unusual design incorporating cupboards, shelves and drawers, it carries all its original handles and a maker's label by the Leeds manufacturer Hummerston Brothers.

Oak Pedestal Desk c.1900.

It's something of an embarrasment of riches here at the shop as far as pedestal desks goes (see recent posts). Here is another, newly restored and out on the shop floor today. Edwardian oak single piece pedestal desk. Panelled sides and back, new leather top, one period replacement handle.

Leather Chesterfield Sofa.

Another superb piece of leather upholstery for this afternoon's blog (see recent posts for some great leather armchairs). This time its the classic buttoned leather chesterfield club sofa. Excellent condition with soft leather worn to an excellent colour and patina.

Hot off the van this afternoon and in need of a little restoration is this unusual pair of late 19th.c. golden oak refectory tables. Superb quality and construction.
