Mid 18th.c. Welsh Oak Cwpwrdd Tridarn.

Something special for today's blog. This large 18th.c. Welsh oak cwpbwrdd tridarn c.1750 is a new arrival here at the shop this morning. Distinct to North West Wales, Cwpwrdd Tridarn translates as three piece cupboard and that is exactly what this is; the top section being for display with a single shelf, the middle section comprises two small cupboards with a partition between and the lower section features two drawers above two large cupboard doors. As the 18th.c progressed the tridarn began to evolve, the top becoming larger, featuring more shelves as the mid section shrank, eventually becoming the classic cupboard base North Wales dresser.

tridarnThis is a lovely example of the form standing an impressive 81" tall. Of excellent colour and condition having been fully restored. The floor of the base has been restored using solid oak boards, otherwise original throughout with superb oak panelled sides and back, oak drawer linings and original oak shelf inside the small cupboards in the middle section. The brass handles are later replacements.
Dimensions: width 57", depth 23", height 81".
