Unusual 18th.c. Carved Oak Box.

Another good bit of oak country furniture for today's blog. This time it is an early18th.c. oak coffer with very unusual carved and stained front. The origins of this unique box are unknown but the radial half moon pattern along the top rail corresponds to that found on a lot of carved furniture from Monmouth around the same period. Excellent colour and condition with original stiles, oak sides and oak panelled back.
Dimensions: width 56", depth 21", height 26".
