Victorian Brass Bound Travelling Trunk.

A splendid relic of an age when international travel meant months of travel rather than hours, this large and heavy brass bound mahogany trunk would make a fine coffee table with ample storage. Although it carries the scars of its travelling years it is in good solid condition retaining all its original bindings and its two solid brass handles. The best feature, however, must be the original labelling on the lid which reads 'E.J Lawder Esqr. c/o Messers W. Watson & Co. Bombay'. Lawder was the editor of the Anglo-Indian Review, the journal of the Anglo-Indian Empire League. It seems he survived his years in Bombay to make the return journey, as in a less professional hand someone has crossed out 'Bombay' and added 'London' to the address.
