Yew Wood Windsor Chairs

We are all drooling here in the shop over this superb pair of early 19th.c. Windsor chairs which have arrived this afternoon. Windsors are always attractive chairs but it's the details which lift these out of the ordinary. The arms, top rail and back splat of these chairs are yew wood, as is the bowed 'crinoline' stretcher -itself a notable feature. Yew is very slow growing meaning it is rare in furniture, has a beautiful colour and grain and is especially sought after in Windsors. Add to this the graceful shape of the splat, the fact they are a pair and the excellent original condition and you can understand why we are so keen.
